Wrap Up – The Extended Birthday Week

This post is linked up at the Weekly Wrap Up, hosted by Weird Unsocialized Homeschoolers.

Let’s see…what can I can share about this week?  Hmm, not much.  It was blessedly uneventful.  I’m still not ready to begin planning the new school year.

I go back and forth – excited about the new school year to completely uninterested and back to excited.  So I guess I’m just not there yet…but that’s better than I was a few weeks ago.  I was pretending it was June. Ha!

I think part of my reluctance is because it’s been such an unbelievably gorgeous summer around here.  Seriously, low 70s – to low 80s, low humidity.  Perfect!  I want to enjoy every last bit of it.  Anywho, this week…

Saturday was Bram’s 7th birthday party.  He had a blast and had *a bit* too much sugar.

Monday was Bram’s true birthday, so I spent the day spoiling him.  We started the day with cake!  We watched movies and basically the world revolved around Bram.

Tuesday I was interviewed by Jendi for a podcast at Mom Prepares. I had so much fun with this and Jendi asked questions that really made me think.

I cannot for the life of me remember what I did on Wednesday except for a 2 hour conversation with my friend Stef.

On Thursday, the gift my oldest son had ordered for Bram arrived.  Bram took a barefoot walk to the post office with me. He had walked barefoot to check the mail and found the pick-up slip in the mailbox.  He was so excited, I didn’t have the heart to send him back down the lane for shoes.

Later that day we spent some time tossing rocks into the creek.  It was a sweet day.

Today I’ve been tackling laundry and light cleaning…and that’s about it for our week!  Oh! There was something very exciting that happened on Monday (other than Bram’s birthday).

We have a small flock of chickens.  Over the last few months 4 of our hen have disappeared.  They would show up every once in a while to eat…but then they stopped coming back at all.

I held out hope they were okay since we never found a carcass or signs of trouble…but they were gone for so long.

Then on Monday my favorite missing chicken, Ruby, showed up with 11 baby chicks!!  We were so tickled.  Our flock practically doubled in a day!  We’re hoping the other missing chickens are out setting too.
